My artistic gift is part of who I am, and pervades my life whatever I am doing. I am always observing and ready to capture a special moment. My work is realistic, but it is not my intent to exactly reproduce a photograph. Painting is for allowing the viewer to see passages of light, pattern, heightened color, and edited subject matter in order to communicate a creative idea or impression.
Creating paintings with watercolor, acrylics, gouache, pastels, and drawings in pen and ink are my primary focus. Mixing water media and pastels is a favorite of mine. I prefer to do watercolors in my studio, and enjoy plein air painting in pastels. My subjects include wildlife and birds, landscapes and water scenes, our colorado aspen, horses, flowers, and people enjoying the outdoors. Paintings and drawings of cats (big or small) are a specialty of mine, along with waterfowl. My goal is to become known as a wildlife artist, and I am passionate about protecting our fast disappearing species and habitat.
I am a Signature Member of the Colorado Watercolor Society, the Wyoming Watercolor Society, and the Pikes Peak Watercolor Society. |
