My paintings, no matter the subject, are about horses. I fell in love with the outdoors by way of horses, but I was apparently born in love with horses.
Typically, I went to work at my first “real” job in order to supply hay during a drastic drought in the Midwest where I grew up. I tackled Hallmark Cards and they said “Go home and do some nice tight watercolor florals. If we like ‘em, we’ll hire you.” I did and they did.
Since 1983 I have considered myself a “serious” painter but I am not above relapsing into illustrations for cards, stationery, logo design and other tempting assignments.
"I aspire to walk in the Navajo’s Beauty Way and I hope someday to claim another native American prayer, “You see I stand in good relation to all that is beautiful.”
