Artist's Statement

Nancy Doyle was born in Redlands, California and grew up in the San Francisco Bay area. Her desire to be an artist was evident very early in Nancy’s life. When she was only 3 she had a pencil in her hand drawing pictures on anything she could find. She received her formal education at San Jose State University where she majored in commercial art.
She also benefited from many years of private tutoring by one of her aunts who was a professional artist.

Nancy soon started to show an ability that was unique. She discovered her best work was achieved using the medium of Prisma-Color pencils, which helped her convey a uniqueness and special look to her work. From the muted leather-hued tones in the faces of her American Indians, to the hauntingly beautiful eyes of Nancy’s children of the world, her work has an unmistakable quality.

Nancy Doyle has won numerous awards for her drawings and her works are in many private collections. She is a specialist in pictures of people; young children in a carefree world, people reflecting in their thoughtful moments, American Indian portraits, and the native people of countries throughout the world. Using her unique technique with wax pencils, she depicts people in their various and always interesting modes of life.
