I grew up loving horses and art – drawing horses from an early age. Marriage and family responsibilities took first place for quite a while but after my children were grown and gone and I had retired from the working world, my passion for both art and horses came back as strong as they had been before.
I had attended a year and a half of art school just after high school but I only dabbled in art while my children were growing up. Then I started taking classes and workshops when the teacher or topic interested me. Once I found colored pencil as a medium I fell – hook, line and sinker. Of course, my subject matter had to be horses. I tried other things at first but always came back to the beauty and grandeur of the horse.
"Although I use photos to work from, I feel the need to breathe life into my work that you won’t find in a photograph. Hopefully, I can accomplish that and create artwork that calls to other people."
