A childhood fascination with horses launched Kay Baker’s art career. Growing up In Sioux City, Iowa, she spent many hours drawing them. Later she was challenged by noted artist, William Herring, to look into the “horses of her soul”.
This advice is at the heart of Kay’s paintings. As both a plein air painter and a studio artist, Kay seeks that close connection with her subject whether it is a floral study or a tranquil rural scene that allows the viewer to feel and celebrate the uniqueness of God’s creation.
Kay has a Bachelor of Advertising Art from the University of South Dakota and has studied with many well known artists. Her paintings are in private and public collections throughout the United States.
