After working for several seasons as an Interpretive or Backcountry Ranger for the National Parks in unusually stunning settings, it should not be a surprise that my work focuses on the ecology of location. My subjects come from wilderness areas - the land, the processes that formed it or itʼs inhabitants. I try to capture the essence of place, drawing upon what makes that location unique. The intent is to help the viewer forge a deeper relationship with the land while renewing any previous connections from their own previous experience.
Each piece is textural, drawing the viewer inward to discover more, sometimes subtle, nuances. Strong compositional forms and inspiring subject matter initially engage the viewer, but it is the textures, the patterns or the depth within a piece which inspires further and lasting reflection.
