Suzanne Ferguson finds great joy in painting outdoors. She loves the challenge of capturing the unique light of a landscape at different times of day.

Schooled in art in California, taking her degree from the San Francisco Art Institute, Ferguson and her work flourish in her studio too, where she’ll spend time to develop a mood or let her imagination roam.

I had taken a photo of the Channel Islands, off the California coast, and was using it as a screen saver. One day while glancing at it, I became inspired to use a part of it as reference material, and visualized it transformed into this painting.
