Artist's Statement

After taking early retirement from a computer career, L. Heath attended the San Francisco Academy of Art and studied with current masters, to refresh her skills. She paints still life in a classical Chiaroscuro style that uses thin glazes applied over several weeks or months, with a mixing medium much like that of the Old Masters. Her style is noted for a dreamlike quality that uses vibrant colors and strong light patterns, with touches of crisp definition in the focal area.

"Origin: China"

Oil on Board

A chiaroscuro painting done in the old Master’s style with luminescent objects that most probably originated in China. Note the flow of light from the orchid around to the apricots and cup, with rhythm almost like a melody.
