Artist's Statement |
My life is filled with art, and horses. I help my husband train performance horses on a small ranch in Northern Nevada. We start colts and train for all western disciplines and are surrounded by all kinds of animals. This life is a constant inspiration for my art. I love all things western, from the people and animals around me to the old wood, barbed wire and sagebrush. I was raised in Florida, where I attended art classes at the Ringling Museum of Art at age six. Making art ever since, I received a Bachelor of Fine Art from the University of Hawaii, in Design and Photography in 1982.
I’ve worked in photography, ceramics, acrylics, and gouache before landing on pencils and pastels. I enjoy many different styles as well, and am currently exploring a sharp focus on detail with a shallow depth of field, yielding pictures with both impressionism and realism, reminiscent of my earlier photography work.
As well as fine art painting, I also paint my original designs on purses and make one-of-a-kind jewelry. My work is available for sale at www.stephanieroselong.com
