Linda Medders-Jackson

Artist's Statement

Living in the Spanish moss draped Carolina Lowcountry affords her many opportunities to get reference photos. She works mostly in pastels, gouache, scratchboard but also works in graphite and other mediums. Her subject matter is also varied, but including "Western" themes.  Her favorite subjects are horses, dogs and other animals. Many of her paintings give us a glimpse into the everyday world of the wildlife and animals that share their world with us.

Linda has been juried into shows nationwide and in England. She has been fortunate to have won  a variety of top awards  including many Best of Shows,  People's Choice Awards, Best Animal and Purchase Awards. Her award-winning paintings are collected by both private and corporate entities across the country. She does many commissioned works.

She is an associate member of Women Artists of the West, a member of the Miniature Art Society of Florida and the Canine Art Guild.
 
" As an artist I'm often asked why I mainly paint animals.  It's really a tough question.  There is a special connection to them that God must have given me and it comes alive in my work.  Each animal I see is a story and some have to be recorded and so I paint. Ever seen a pinto deer? Ever seen a calf chase turkeys or watch an otter play with a heron? They all have a story."
