Laura Jo grew up on the east coast and moved to Oregon in 2001. She graduated with a degree in art history and art education. Teaching art in New York state kept her busy for 30 odd years. Now she is concentrating on learning and growing as a professional artist. She works only in pastels.
She has studied with many well know pastel artists including Christine Debrosky, Richard McKinley, Albert Handell, Dawn Emerson, and Jennifer Evenhus to name only a few. She feels that to continue to grow as an artist you should take advantage of professional guidance and support when it’s available.
Although she currently does not have Gallery representation it has not stopped her from painting everyday and constantly producing paintings. Her recent project has been a series of horse paintings. Specifically they are mustang horses located in the state of Oregon. Wildlife and the local landscapes are also favorites.
