“I’ve always been drawn to the landscape, especially the concept of art as an invitation to explore the natural world. I’m immediately intrigued with the way light plays across the form, creating a timeless beauty. Where I live there is immense solitude, wild skies and secluded places. My work is about being alone without being lonely, without sentimentality. It’s about stepping into the unknown and discovering what you might find there.”
Sue Favinger Smith returned to painting at the age of 50, earning an art degree from Oregon State University and graduating with the Distinguished Student - Department of Art Award.
