Kim Whitton is a self-taught artist from the Foothills of the Rocky Mountains of Alberta, Canada whose heart brought her to the Pineywoods of East Texas where her art has been inspired by the rich history of the area. Whitton’s artistic works have been created in pastels, pen and ink, charcoal, silk and watercolor and has ranged from juried shows and competitions to solo exhibitions and international sales that has spanned over 35 years. Her paintings reside in private and corporate collections across Canada and the United States as well as England, Belgium and Australia.
Whitton discovered her love of watercolor while painting portraits of the First Nation peoples of the west and the Cowboys/Cowgirls that are a strong part of her heritage. She also enjoys painting the wildlife of North America and the domestic animals (horses, dogs, cows etc) that are a big part of her life. Since moving to Texas she has incorporated Southern Americana with images of days gone by and the multitude of colors that can be found in the diverse countryside that surrounds her. From her brush to your heart, she hopes that her paintings will evoke emotion in the viewer.
