Painting is how I connect with the real me… the weird, unrefined girl who never fit into proper society. I paint to find home; that place where the rules are slack and my soul can meander around in pajamas eating ice cream, my hair tousled and my face make-up free; safely vulnerable.
I spent the first 15 years of my adult life as a swing dance performer, teacher and competitor, which has lent me a great deal of inspiration in my fine art. The art that is dance happens completely in the moment and then it’s over. It’s completely ephemeral. As such I find myself chasing those special moments when something magical happens in the dance; whether it's the shape of a body or a dress, an angling of the light and shadow or the surprise beauty of an unexpected movement.
I also find much inspiration in the world outside of dance… I have a deep passion for the earth and nature, the cycles of life, and everything that lives and breathes on this planet, which you will also find in my art!
