Elizabeth “Libby” Cameron has been
a full time professional painter of equine and canine portraits
for twenty years. She photographs her subjects and then paints
(with a pack of Standard Poodles and Norwegian Elkhounds) in her
studio overlooking the fields of their Wisconsin horse farm. Her
work comes through private referrals and magazine exposure. Using
oil, acrylics, (or watercolors), in a classical method, she often
uses her art to further animal rescue and conservation causes.
Her website has fascinating examples showing the evolution of her
technique (www.ElizabethCameron.com). Libby enjoys painting people
as well as animals, and as a November 2006 Chicago Tribune article
said, often becomes “the family painter”.
A 1974 graduate
of Layton School of Art in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Libby majored
in painting and earned a four year Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
She went on to become an artist/editor with the largest USA children’s
book publisher for nine years before selling everything and buying
a ticket to Spain to launch her portrait career. Cameron is thrilled
and grateful to make her living as a painter of commissioned portraits.
She recently added a series of foxhunt and pony scenes to her work
and has been accepted into a national show and is exploring gallery
representation. |
