Horses have always been a large part of my life
and it is this subject matter that I find the most inspiring to
paint. I make it a personal challenge to capture the honesty, cadence,
and raw energy the horse projects in its presence. I am intrigued
by the history of the West and the American cowboy. Together, the
horse and cowboy have become patriotic symbols over time, seeming
to radiate the freedom and justice our great country was founded
upon. The image of the horse itself is indicative of the technique
I use in my painting: boldness in the form of color and energy,
looseness to encourage freedom and movement, and the suggestion
of an untold story that allows the viewer to subjectively discover
meaning in the piece.”
