Artist's Statement

Dena’s work expresses a love of intimate, quiet, and peaceful spaces and has been described as “impressionistic realism.”

“Painting, to me, is like poetry—a few inspired and well-chosen words can say more than a page of prose. I strive for an economy of brushstrokes for the same reason.”

An award-winning artist, Dena’s paintings have been exhibited in regional, national, and international shows, including the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum. Her work hangs in private collections throughout the United States. She received her art training at the Loveland Academy of Fine Arts, the Art Students League of Denver, and the Scottsdale Artists School, where she was honored to be selected for the prestigious Wade Fairchild Memorial Scholarship. Her studio work and plein-air paintings can be seen at Gallery East, Loveland, CO, Lincoln Gallery, Loveland, CO, LIW Cargo Gallery, Manitou Springs, CO.

A lodge on beautiful Emerald Lake in Canada. Glacial waters truly make this water appear emerald in color. I loved the soft backlighting in this serene scene.

"Taos Nocturne"

Painted at night near the Taos Inn in Taos, NM. The street was still a bit damp from a gentle rain, which reflected the pink and orange lights of the sign nicely. This is what attracted me to this scene.
