An art professor of mine once commented that my work expresses a love of intimate, peaceful spaces. I believe that may stem from my small-town Illinois roots. I enjoy the richness and texture of painting with oils, and I love to see where my brush has been in my work. I believe in painting with a clear vision; the best paintings make one simple, yet bold, statement. I prefer to paint the unexpected, especially when painting en plein air; I want to show the viewer of my work that anything can be made to be beautiful. From pastoral scenes to trash bins in alleys, I believe all things can be appreciated through painting.
