Artist's Statement

AS long as I can remember, drawing and painting were the things that brought me the most joy. Being an identical twin, my own identity was very important to me. As it turned out, my twin has the math skills and I was working the other hemisphere of the brain. Together we made the perfect woman!

Being able to do something I have such passion for, and doing it well, is a dream come true. The gift of continual growth and undending opportunities in this field of art will give me daily challenges that will keep me engaged and active for my entire life. How great is that?

Also, teaching for the past 30 years has kept me on my toes - and what a joy that has been. I have watched many of my students excel in their art and many make it their career choice. ..while others are able to just find a way to express their inner voice. This has also been rewarding.

All in all, I have truly been blessed with my gift from God and I will try to never take it for granted.

"Paint Colt"

Pastel
I was raised on a quarterhorse ranch. For all my days of feeding and breaking colts to lead and ride, we rarely got a paint horse on the property. They are my weakness - there is something about those spots and pink nose!

"Red Fox"

Colored scratchboard

I seem to have an affinity for red foxes. We have a friend in town that has a family of foxes that reuses its den each spring to raise their young. I have done several portraits of them in everything but oils...maybe this year is the year.

This piece won both the Best of Show and People's Choice awards at the Snake River Showcase.

Sold, but prints are available - contact the artist
