Artist's Statement |

Art is as much a part of my life as eating, sleeping, and breathing. Whether I’m watching television, riding in a car, or talking on the phone, you’ll almost always find a pencil and paper, a doodle, a drawing, or a sketch nearby. But pure joy for me is uninterrupted time in my art studio. In my mind, the colors and shapes and beauty in the world are all things to be captured and held onto and enjoyed, and my way of doing that is through my art. I love the smell of oil paint, how it feels to move it around on the canvas and the satisfaction of finishing a piece of which I’m genuinely proud. When I immerse myself in the faces that I paint, I come to know those people in an incredibly personal way. When I immerse myself in my landscapes, it’s like returning to the locations that I’m painting. It’s an amazing and magical escape to a place that is peaceful, serene and at times, humorous. I love being an artist!
