Faye Taylor Wins Two National Awards

Prineville artist, Faye Taylor, has recently been recognized in two different shows on a national scale for her watercolor entitled "Storm Rider" and her oil painting entitled "A Kindly Hand."

"A Kindly Hand" earned a 6th place award from Art Horse Magazine's EX ARTE EQUINUS National competition.  This piece will be published in the February 2008 issue of Art Horse Magazine and will also be published in a coffee table book in early 2008.

"Gaining National recognition is not easy in the fine art arena, especially the western genre," states Taylor.  "I'm so grateful to live where real cowboys still rope, ride and shoot."

"Mora Tradition"

Judith Durr has been selected by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as their "2007 - American Indian Heritage Recognition Poster Artist". Judith Durr's image, "Mora Tradition", was selected by the U.S E.P.A. in commemoration of its annual American Indian Heritage Month as their poster and program cover artist. Congratulations Judith. Wonderful work!

 
 
 

 

"Take Me Home, Baby!"

Mary Michael's bronze sculpture, "Take Me Home, Baby!" was selected by the Calgary Stampede Rodeo committee as the trophy award for the barrel racing competition for the next five years. The committee will purchase a total of seven sculptures. Five will be for the awards, one will be placed in the office and one will go to the Stampede Museum. This is a great honor and we are very proud of Mary's achievement.
 
"Heading Back Home"

Diane Perry's oil painting "Heading Back Home" won best oil/acrylic at the 2007 Western Spirit Art Show. The show promotes work that captures the spirit of the American West and is held in Cheyenne, WY at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum. Both traditional and contemporary Western art, are encouraged, as well as western landscapes and wildlife. Nice work, Diane.
 

 

 
 
 

 

"Reaching Shore"
Pastel Painting by Mary Ann Cherry
One of Mary Ann Cherry's pieces, “Reaching Shore" won Best of Show this year at the Phippen Museum Show, as well as Best Pastel and also the Phippen Founder’s Award. The piece was purchased by the museum. The Phippin is one of the premier shows for western art. Some of the best western artists have come out of this show. Congratulations Mary Ann!
 
"Adoration"
Etching by Christine Ford
Christine Ford's etching of a Samoyed dog titled "Adoration" won first place in the hand-pulled prints category at the 2007 "Art Show at the Dog Show." This competition benefits the American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog in St. Louis, Missouri. Nice job, Christine.
 

“Crashing Waves"

Marsha MacDonald, associate member from Ojai, Calif. is now in a brand new gallery in Ventura,Calif.. The Red Brick Gallery had their grand opening in January where Marsha sold two large pastel paintings. Marsha continues to show in The Maricopa Gallery in Ojai and recently entered the 70th Annual Santa Paula Art Show (ongoing until Feb.28th)
